Valentine's Day Cards

With V-day coming up, I decided to make a bunch of cards for this occasion.

The card below was made with scrap papers, ribbon, and acrylic lettering. I inked the edges to give it an antique look and put puff pieces behind the hearts to give it more dimension.

This next card (below), I used these glossy heart stickers to make a flower and used a fabric sticker for the center. I used ribbon to make the stem and leaves of the flower. I created the bee out of puff pieces and used a sharpy to make the black lines. I cut small pieces of wire to make the antennas. The bee's wings were made from this clear silk flower. Once again, I used puff pieces to give the flower petals dimension.

This next card (below), I made by using my leftover pink swirly twirly border. I painted the chipboard circle with pink ink chalk, and then placed a fabric sticker on top. I used 3 different types of ribbon overall. I added the rhinestones to jazz up the card.

This next card (below) looks simple, but it actually took a really long time to do. The big flower is chipboard. I painted it pink and then put this thing on it to make it shiny. I took a long time to try. The heart is also made of chipboard. I added those beads to give the page texture. I wrote the xoxo in red and added the fabric embellishment to it.

This next card is one of my favorites (below). I used puff pieces to raise the patterned paper on the card. I rounded the edges and inked all edges in a light pink ink chalk. Then I cut the 2 flower petals out to make a heart. I attached the flower with a big baby blue round bag. I used rub ons for the letters.

This next card started out with me practicing my stamping. The leaves of the flower are a stamp. I used two different flowers and held them down with an antique brad. I also used antique brads for more texture. The xoxo are rub ons. Of course, I also used puff pieces to raise the picture on the card.

This last card was tiring to make. The flowers are actually rub ons, but they took forever to put on because they would not rub on. The U and ME are acrylic letters and they are actually red. I added brownish gold rhinestones to give the card more details. I finished on the card with a green ribbon that has flowers on it.

I need to learn to be more efficient because these cards took a few days to make.

New Projects for the New Year

Hello again! Today I accomplished a few things. First, I made a lovely accordion tin album. See below.

This is the front cover. The tin came with a sticker that covers the entire front tin. I added the tag and used puff pieces to give it a 3d look and inked the edges to give it that antique look. Again, I really need to be more aware when I take my photos. Sorry for that shrimp chip bag in the back.

The tin opens up and has 6 pages. See above. Each page is different and you can put pictures on all of the pages. It seemed like an easy project when I started, but 2.5 hours later, I realized it was not as easy as it looked. Overall, it's a very cute gift to give to someone.

Next, I tried making a Valentines day card. See below. I used chipboard and colored it with chalk ink. The swirly twirly line of magenta is a felt sticker. I held the two flowers together with a rhinestone brad. The word "love" is a metal embellishment. The inside of the card contains the definition of the word love.

I had extra materials, so I made a matching magnet. See below. I used this square cork board magnet that I got from Jo Ann's and glued paper on it. Then I added the magenta felt swirly twirly sticker, the "lovely" embellishment, and then the pink rhinestones. I left the space on top so that a picture could be added.

My aunt made this super cute "he loves me, he loves me not" card. See below. It looks simple to make, but it took a really long time. She had to tear the paper in a precise way, cut the flowers, and then individually cut and apply the rub on letters. A lot of work, but it is so cute.

Our scrapbooking adventures continue on tomorrow. Hopefully we'll be more productive, but creativity takes a lot of time. I'm also hoping to squeeze in a trip to Jo Ann's again. Yay!

Grandpa's Birthday Book

WARNING: picture quality is not at its finest. Sorry

So much for a monthly update. It's ok, better late then never. It's been a while since I last wrote, but insomnia is keeping me up and so I decided to blog. I started this album for my grandpa's 80th birthday almost 4 years ago and never finished because law school was in the way. Now that it's not in the way, i've only added 2 more pages. But I promise that I will finish before his next birthday so that I can give it to him as a present.

This was one of the first pages I did when I started scrapbooking. Coming up with ideas was hard then, but I think after law school it's even harder. Law school drained all my creativity away.

I hand painted those chipboard pieces and crimped the background papers. I love the wiring and the little pieces hanging. That cake has the names of all the grandchildren in the family.

The papercutting for this page was so tiresome. I think this is why I don't like to measure before I cut anymore.

Like I said, being creative is hard. I get better with time.

My goddaughter, what a cutie. Now that i'm older and wiser, I realize that I need to use more texture and to frame the pictures. I guess I did ok since I did use photo corners, but by simply adding another piece of paper to frame the picture would just add so much more to the page. This is something my aunt taught me. She's so wise even though I brought her into the scrapbooking world.

I love this page b/c I was inspired by a magazine advertisement. The flowers actually have brads in the middle. The top part, where the paper is beige, actually said happy Easter underneath. This page taught me how to be crafty.

New page #1. You can't tell from the picture, but there is a lot of texture going on here. Those brown flowers are actually fabric with gem brad centers. The pink and purple flowers are paper flowers that I got from the dollar booth from the scrapbooking expo. Those green photo corners add a nice touch. I can thank my aunt for those, she has photo corners in every color. Also, the framing of the photos. See how much nicer the pictures looked framed.

New page #2. I love this page. That swirly twirly thing on the bottom is so cute but so difficult to put on. The whole backside of it was sticky and it kept sticking to itself. I made that little pocket with a T too. I bought a stamp that cuts out tags a while back, what a great investment.

So that concludes my grandpa's 80th birthday book. I still have several pages to go. I will update when I get to them.

Happy Holidays Everyone....and when I mean every, I mean T.N. and N.D., you know who you are.

The Pazzle is AMAZING!!!

Hello all! It's been a very long time since my last update. It's been so long that the Scrapbooking Expo is back in Sacramento. Anyway, last time I went, I picked up a CD from the Pazzle booth and this one was filled with lace designs (cost was around $30 plus tax). This is just a sample of what it can do. It's so cool. This CD has 101 difference designs. Can't wait to test them all out.

Really, I mean I don't think I would ever be able to cut out all those little flower and have them all connected. I just wanted to use this once before I buy another CD (that way there's no guilt).

Anyway, now that I am out of school and being a lazy bum until by bar results are out, I plan to blog more regularly....at least once a month?

For anyone going, see you at the expo!
